Background
In 1994 BMW introduced this homologation special as a limited European edition, specially built to compete in the FIA GT Championships. The BMW M3 GT Coupé was equipped with a 295 hp 3.0L inline 6 with 323 Nm and went from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. This was achieved by using the throttle bodies of the 3.2L, special camshafts and a higher compression ratio. Only 356 of the E36 M3 GT were built, all in British Racing Green color and built in 1995. Furthermore, this model distinguishes itself from regular E36 M3 models by an adjustable front splitter, a double spoiler on the tailgate with optional mounting blocks, the use of aluminum doors, forged rims and a different adjustment of the ABS system. The interior is always grey Alcantara in combination with walk nappa Mexico green leather. The carbon details such as the center console, dashboard cover and the door sills, you only found in the E36 M3 GT. The E36 M3 GT weighs about 30 kilograms less than a regular E36 M3 and the top speed is 275 kilometers per hour. The sprinting qualities of the E36 M3 GT can still enthuse drivers today, that normally aspirated 6-cylinder engine with a unique driving feel that is missing in the latest generation of performance cars. The lack of electronic driver assistance systems also sharpens the mind. Man and machine in perfect harmony.
BMW M3 GT Coupé (E36) no. 189
Many E36 M3 GTs found their way to the track, making a flawless example like this rare. This E36 M3 GT is number 189 of the 356 built and has 170,311 km on the clock. The M3 GT Coupé has always been well maintained, which is reflected in the stamped maintenance book and the maintenance invoices. This E36 M3 GT was originally sold into the German market and spent 6 years in the homeland before being exported to the UK. From 2001 to 2007 the E36 M3 GT was lovingly cared for by three owners, being regularly maintained and enjoyed. From 2007 to 2022, the car was kept off the road in silent slumber meaning the E36 M3 GT has not been exposed to the normal levels of wear and tear that driving a car can cause. M Classics bought the E36 M3 GT from the third UK owner and exported it to the Netherlands. It now represents a fantastic opportunity to put the M3 GT back into regular use and enjoy this superb BMW or to add to a collection with occasional usage.
